staff roles

To ensure that students are able to thrive in this learning environment it is imperative that both staff from the visiting school and City Cite work closely together. This will ensure that the academic and pastoral needs of the students are met.

Visiting school staff

Visiting School Staff will provide a pastoral and educational support for students through team teaching with City Cite staff where appropriate. They will enthuse students to take responsibility within their group and will be active in the observation of group dynamics.

Visiting School Staff will liaise with City Cite staff regarding individual needs of students to allow positive outcomes for all students while completing Rich Tasks. They will be actively and enthusiastically involved in activities where appropriate. They will employ ‘guide on the side’ rather than ‘sage on the stage’ teaching styles in relation to the students’ team work.

There is the opportunity to reflect on some different teaching techniques, styles and the use of alternative environments that have a context relevant to their students’ learning.

CITY CITE Staff

City Cite staff have the prime responsibility for organisational aspects of the program, however, where possible teaching should be collaborative with the visiting school's staff. They will be aware of, and sensitive to, the ethos and teaching practices of the visiting school.

They will develop co-operative partnerships with students allowing for decision-making opportunities for the students. Likewise, they will develop positive partnerships with client schools, their staff and parents with a view to providing programs that satisfy the goals for students.

Learning experiences/tasks have been designed with the Victorian Curriculum framework in mind.

City Cite Staff will engage in dialogue with students to foster a sense of responsibility towards their own learning and the Rich Task. City Cite Staff will act as an informed source of knowledge and a conduit to educational sites in Melbourne.

They will enthuse students to take responsibility within their group and to be active in the observation of group dynamics. They will foster a positive, supportive and professional environment for all teaching staff.

City Cite Staff will provide administrative structures for schools' programs to run efficiently and safely, being vigilant and knowledgeable in risk management issues in running a city program. They will remain up to date in knowledge of contemporary Middle Years’ pedagogy and be actively involved in appropriate educational networks.
