Our Venue and Facilities
City Cite is located on the 12th floor of 474 Flinders Street, conveniently close to the train and tram network. It is a short walk to Southern Cross Station or tram ride to Flinders Street Station. The tram stop just outside City Cite on Flinders Street is served by tram routes 70 and 75 and the City Circle tram. Nearby Collins street offers many more tram routes.
The first six floors of the building are a commercially run and operated Wilson’s car park. Seven floors are commercial offices, and levels 15 – 17 are motel units/short stay apartments.
Our purpose-built facilities have been specifically designed to enable collaborative and project-based teaching and learning programs. We can comfortably accommodate four classes of approximately 27 students and one visiting school teacher per class.
Our four learning areas (Birrarung, Cooper, Rialto and Riverside) consists of a large presentation or meeting space with six breakout spaces attached. Each breakout space offers a working space for up to six students and computer facilities. Two of the class areas (Birrarung and Riverside) can be amalgamated to form one large area to seat 120 people or provide a function venue that overlooks the Yarra River and Southbank, with views towards Port Phillip Bay. A floor plan can be viewed here which shows the layout, including presentation and student breakout group areas.
While our venue is predominately used by school groups, the setting is also suitable for workshops or meeting spaces for corporate groups and organisations – especially outside normal school hours and during the school holidays.
There is dedicated Wi-Fi access for the floor and networked printers. While many students and teachers bring their personal laptop or mobile device, there is a desktop computer available in each breakout space. Each of the four learning areas has a large screen for audio visual presentations.
Also available is a First Aid room and a well-equipped kitchen that is available for visiting staff and event catering. If required, catering for a function or event can also be arranged by City Cite staff.
